This spicy pickle margarita is a true pickle-lover’s dream — tangy dill pickle juice meets tequila, triple sec, fresh lime, and spicy jalapeño slices for a cocktail that’s bold, refreshing, and completely addictive. If you love pickles, this is going to be your new go-to margarita recipe.

Why You’ll Love this Spicy Pickle Margarita
I had the genius idea at the studio the other day to make another pickle-based cocktail. If you didn’t know, I’m a huge dill pickle fan and pickle juice is such a fabulous mix-in for cocktails.
This spicy pickle margarita is simply made with classic margarita ingredients such as lime juice, tequila, and triple sec, but I added dill pickle juice and jalapeños for a fancy (and spicy!) variation. It’s salty, tangy, and has just the right amount of heat — perfect for summer happy hours or anytime you’re craving something bold.
If you love margaritas as much as I do, make sure to also try my ultimate margarita for the classic version or my spicy grapefruit margarita for another jalapeño-infused twist.
Spicy Pickle Margarita Ingredients
- Pickle juice: I prefer a dill pickle juice for this, as butter pickles might be a little too sweet. I use Claussen Kosher Dill Pickles.
- Tequila: I used my favorite tequila: Espolon Blanco. A good blanco tequila works best here.
- Triple sec: Any kind of orange liqueur works. Cointreau is also a great option.
- Jalapeños: If you like it spicy, keep the seeds. If you don’t like a ton of spice, ditch them.
- Lime juice: Fresh lime juice, please. It makes a huge difference! If you need some for other recipes, check out my tips in my simple syrup guide.

How to Make a Spicy Pickle Margarita
This pickle juice margarita comes together in just a few minutes — no blender needed! Here’s the quick version:
- Shake it up: Add tequila, triple sec, pickle juice, jalapeño slices, and lime juice to a cocktail shaker with ice. Shake until well-chilled.
- Make the rim: Mix Lawry’s seasoning and cayenne pepper on a plate. Run a lime wedge around the glass rim and dip it in the spice mix.
- Pour and garnish: Fill your glass with ice, pour in the margarita, and garnish with pickle slices, jalapeño slices, and lime wedges.

How Spicy Is This Pickle Margarita?
It all depends on how spicy your jalapeños are. If you don’t like things too spicy, make sure to remove all of the seeds. If you’re a huge spice person — add the seeds into the shaker! You can also add more or fewer jalapeño slices to control the heat level.
What Does a Pickle Margarita Taste Like?
If you’re wondering whether pickle juice actually works in a margarita — trust me, it does! The pickle brine adds a salty, tangy depth that balances perfectly with the tequila and citrus. Combined with the jalapeño heat and the spicy-salty rim, it’s a savory twist on a classic that’s surprisingly refreshing. Think of it like a dirty martini meets a margarita.
Can I Make This Margarita Non-Alcoholic?
Absolutely! My secret is adding a little vinegar to N/A drinks to give them that same zip you get from alcohol. So, omit the tequila and triple sec and add about 1/2 oz. of orange juice and you’re good to go! The pickle juice still gives it plenty of flavor and complexity.
Best Pickles for Pickle Margaritas
I prefer dill pickles for this recipe — the briny, garlicky flavor is what makes this spicy pickle margarita so good. I used Claussen Kosher Dill Pickles. Avoid sweet or bread-and-butter pickles, as the sweetness can throw off the balance.
