How to Cook Bacon in the Air Fryer
Preheat
Preheat the air fryer to 350ºF – I’ve found this temperature is the sweet spot for delightfully crispy but not burnt or smoked bacon (I tried cooking the bacon at 400ºF and that was much too hot).
Prep & Arrange
While the air fryer preheats, slice the bacon strips in half so they fit in the fryer. If your air fryer is big enough, keep the bacon strips whole – the ends can fold over a little bit (but not overlapping). Place the strips of bacon in a single layer in the air fryer.
Because of the air flow in the fryer, both sides cook evenly (and more quickly, too), so avoid stacking the strips.
Tip: Always remove the excess grease on the bottom of the air fryer pan after each round of cooking.
Cook
Air fry the bacon for 6-10 minutes depending on the thickness (the thinner the bacon the faster it cooks). Halfway through, use tongs to flip the strips over. All
Tip: All air fryers are different. Until you’ve made one batch of air fryer bacon, keep an eye on it to avoid overcooking.

Dietary Swaps & Variations
Use your favorite kind of bacon for this air fryer cooking method. It works for ANY kind of bacon – turkey, vegan alternatives, maple-glazed, smoked, dry rubbed, and others.

What to Serve With It
- Scrambled eggs + toast
- Pancakes + fruit salad
- Breakfast strata
- Savory breakfast galette
- In a breakfast burrito, breakfast sandwich, or BLT chicken salad
- On a BLT or crumbled on salads or soups
Storage & Reheating Notes
Store cooled, cooked bacon in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 5 days.
Reheat bacon in the microwave: I’ve found the best (and easiest) way to reheat bacon is in the microwave. Place strips of bacon on a microwave-safe plate with a piece of paper towel on top. Microwave on high for 60-90 seconds or until hot.
To freeze bacon: Place cooled bacon in a freezer-safe bag, remove as much air as possible, and seal. Freeze for up to 3 months!
